Terms & Conditions
We want every visit to Clark & Co Dog Grooming to be a positive experience for both you and your dog. Our Terms & Conditions simply explain how we work, what you can expect from us, and the responsibilities we all share to help keep every dog safe, happy and well cared for. Thank you for taking a few moments to read them before your appointment.
Terms & Conditions
By booking an appointment with Clark & Co Dog Grooming, you agree to the following Terms & Conditions.
1. Your Dog’s Welfare
The health, safety and welfare of every dog is our highest priority. We reserve the right to refuse, stop or alter a grooming service at any time if we believe continuing would compromise the welfare of your dog or the safety of our staff.
2. Vaccinations & Infectious Illness
All dogs attending the salon should be up to date with routine vaccinations or have appropriate veterinary-approved titre testing.
Owners must not bring dogs suffering from any contagious illness, infectious disease, kennel cough, vomiting, diarrhoea or any condition that may place other dogs or our staff at risk.
If your dog becomes unwell before its appointment, please contact us to rearrange.
3. Health Declaration
Owners must inform us before every appointment of any:
-
Illness or medical condition
-
Injury or recent surgery
-
Medication
-
Allergies
-
Skin conditions
-
Mobility issues
-
Behavioural concerns
-
Changes since the previous appointment
Failure to disclose relevant information may result in the appointment being stopped or additional charges being applied if extra time or care is required.
4. Fleas & Parasites
Owners are responsible for ensuring that their dog is free from fleas, ticks and other parasites before attending their appointment.
If fleas, ticks or other parasites are discovered during grooming, Clark & Co Dog Grooming reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to:
-
Continue the grooming session using an appropriate flea treatment or other products available at the salon (where considered safe and appropriate); or
-
Immediately stop the grooming session and refuse to continue if the infestation is considered excessive or poses a risk to other dogs, our staff or the salon environment.
Where grooming continues following the discovery of fleas or parasites, an additional treatment fee (where applicable), together with a £25.00 salon decontamination fee, will be added to your invoice to cover the additional cleaning, disinfection and preparation of the salon and equipment.
Where grooming is stopped due to a flea or parasite infestation, the owner remains responsible for payment for any grooming work already completed. Depending on the stage at which the appointment is stopped, this may be up to the full cost of the booked groom, together with any reasonable cleaning or decontamination costs incurred.
Dogs refused due to fleas or parasites may only be rebooked once appropriate treatment has been completed and the dog is free from infestation.
5. Matted Coats
Heavily matted coats can cause pain, discomfort and skin problems.
Where matting is present, we will always act in the best interests of your dog’s welfare and may recommend or carry out a full or partial shave instead of prolonged de-matting.
A separate De-Matting & Shave Down Consent Form must be completed before this service is carried out.
Additional grooming charges apply depending on the severity of the matting and the additional time required.
6. Behaviour
Owners must advise us if their dog has ever:
-
Bitten or attempted to bite
-
Snapped at people
-
Displayed aggression
-
Required a muzzle
-
Been refused by another groomer
If your dog’s behaviour places itself, other dogs or our staff at risk, we reserve the right to stop the groom immediately.
Charges may still apply for time already spent grooming.
7. Puppies & Senior Dogs
Extra care is taken with puppies, elderly dogs and dogs with medical conditions.
Some grooming services may be modified, shortened or stopped where necessary in the interests of your dog’s welfare.
8. Veterinary Emergency
If your dog becomes ill, injured or requires urgent veterinary attention whilst in our care, every reasonable attempt will be made to contact you immediately.
If we are unable to contact you, or delaying treatment would compromise your dog’s welfare, you authorise Clark & Co Dog Grooming to seek immediate veterinary treatment from your registered veterinary practice or the nearest available veterinary surgeon.
Where appropriate, we may transport your dog using our own vehicle or arrange suitable transportation if immediate veterinary attention is required.
You agree that:
-
Veterinary treatment decisions will be made in the best interests of your dog.
-
We will only authorise treatment reasonably considered necessary until we are able to contact you.
-
You remain responsible for all veterinary consultation, treatment, medication and associated costs.
9. Collection of Dogs
Owners will be contacted once their dog is ready.
Dogs should be collected promptly.
Dogs remaining in the salon more than 30 minutes after notification may incur a daycare charge of £10.00 per hour or part thereof, unless previously agreed.
10. Cancellations & Missed Appointments
We kindly ask for a minimum of 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or rearrange your appointment.
Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice, or missed without notice, may incur a cancellation fee of up to 50% of the booked service.
Following two missed or late-cancelled appointments, we reserve the right to require a non-refundable booking deposit or full payment in advance before accepting future appointments. Any deposit paid will be deducted from the cost of the appointment but will be forfeited if the appointment is missed or cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice.
11. Grooming Times
All grooming times are estimates only.
The time required will vary depending upon:
-
Coat condition
-
Behaviour
-
Size
-
Drying time
-
Additional work required
We will contact you as soon as your dog is ready for collection.
12. Photography
We may occasionally take photographs of your dog for grooming records, training, our website and social media.
If you do not wish your dog’s photographs to be used for marketing purposes, please let us know before your appointment.
13. Payment
Payment is due immediately upon collection of your dog unless otherwise agreed.
We reserve the right to refuse future appointments where outstanding balances remain unpaid.
14. Grooming Risks
Professional grooming involves the use of clippers, scissors, dryers and other specialist equipment.
Although every reasonable care is taken, grooming may occasionally reveal pre-existing skin conditions, lumps, sores, warts, parasites, irritations or other health issues that were hidden beneath the coat.
Minor clipper irritation or accidental nicks may occasionally occur, particularly where dogs have heavily matted coats, thin skin, skin folds, warts or other existing conditions.
15. Medical Conditions
Owners must advise us if their dog has a history of:
-
Seizures or epilepsy
-
Heart conditions
-
Breathing difficulties
-
Collapse or fainting
-
Heat sensitivity
-
Any condition that may be affected by grooming equipment, dryers or standing for prolonged periods.
16. Right to Refuse Service
We reserve the right to refuse or discontinue grooming where:
-
A dog is aggressive.
-
A dog becomes excessively distressed.
-
A dog is unwell.
-
The owner has provided misleading or incomplete information.
-
Continuing would place the dog, other dogs or our staff at unnecessary risk.
Charges may still apply for time already spent.
17. Data Protection
Your personal information is processed in accordance with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
We only collect information necessary to:
-
Provide grooming services.
-
Manage appointments.
-
Contact you regarding your dog.
-
Protect your dog’s welfare.
-
Meet our legal obligations.
Your information will never be sold or shared with third parties except where required by law or where necessary to protect your dog’s health or welfare.
18. Abandoned Dogs
If a dog is not collected by the agreed collection time and we are unable to contact the owner or emergency contact despite making reasonable attempts, Clark & Co Dog Grooming reserves the right to take whatever reasonable steps are necessary to safeguard the welfare of the dog.
This may include transferring the dog to a veterinary practice, boarding facility or other appropriate place of safety.
Any costs incurred, including boarding, transport, veterinary treatment or other associated expenses, shall be the responsibility of the owner.
19. Coat Condition & Grooming Outcome
The final appearance of your dog’s groom will depend upon the condition, length and quality of the coat presented at the appointment.
Whilst every effort will be made to achieve your requested style, this may not always be possible due to matting, coat condition, behaviour or welfare considerations.
20. Personal Belongings
Whilst every reasonable care is taken, Clark & Co Dog Grooming cannot accept responsibility for loss of or damage to collars, leads, harnesses, coats, clothing or any other personal belongings left with your dog during its visit.
21. Changes to These Terms & Conditions
Clark & Co Dog Grooming reserves the right to amend these Terms & Conditions from time to time.
The latest version will always be available on our website, and a printed copy is available on request.
